Sean Singer and Lewis Porter

The Helix Center for Interdisciplinary Investigation of NYPSI is pleased to present jazz pianist and composer Lewis Porter and poet Sean Singer in performance and discussion on the theme of Collaborations. They will explore the fusion of jazz poetry, questioning what is a jazz-related piece of writing and how do poems respond to jazz in all its musical and cultural overtones.

In addition to Porter performing on his own, he and Singer will demonstrate the collaborative process with Porter improvising on the piano while Singer reads his poetry.
